ABOVE- The stars of the 1908 Cubbies: Tinker to Evers to Chance.
The Chicago Cubs' 100 year world championship drought continues after being swept by the Dodgers. Hey, at least the World Series appearance drought is only 63 years. Look on the bright side: one of your Senators is likely to be the next President even if he *is* a White Sox fan. It also may be Ron Santo's turn to join the Hall Of Fame but it's not your year, Cub fans. But you're still special: Bosox and Chisox fans have been a bit whiny since losing their uber loser status and you still have it. Sometimes you've got to be cruel to be kind:
Holy crap, I nearly forgot the 1908 Cub with the greatest baseball name ever (as opposed to Evers) Mordecai Peter Centennial (Three Finger) Brown:

According to my husband, thiis wasn't the Cubs' year anyhow, because
Detroit wasn't in the playoffs. Not sure what sort of Cubbie or Dan lore
he's spouting, but he states in all semi-humorous confidence that for the
pennant drought to end, they've got to be playing the Tigers.
The Cubs beat the Tigers in the 1908 WS and the Tigers beat the Cubbies in
1945. Dan's good.
Naw, he's just a Cubs fan dating from his li'l boyhood...
