SMV: SCTV- JOHN CANDY AS BABE RUTH
A lot of very funny people were on SCTV: Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas to name but a few. SCTV was kinda, sorta Canada's answer to SNL. Jeez, that's a lotta acronyms for one post.
Anyhoo, this week's SMV features the late John Candy as the Sultan of Swat, Babe Ruth. It's funny, seasonal and, even better, they made a mistake in the sketch that a few diehard baseball fans out there might just catch. If you do, leave a comment:
Funny skit. I count 3 "mistakes". No way deepest center field was 600 feet
away. The Brooklyn Dodgers pennant on the wall, not the Yankees. And, the
real mistake, Ruth was #3, not #4.
Gehrig was #4, not Ruth...numbers were based on the Yankees' batting order,
where Ruth hit third and Gehrig was cleanup. But it's a bunch of
Canadians, right? They're still cheering for Terry Puhl....
