One thing Frank Zappa and I had in common was a love of cheesy 1950's monster movies. In 1973, Zappa wrote Cheepnis, which was inspired by It Conquered The World whose monster was described by FZ as an "inverted ice cream cone." The lyrics are inspired silliness; so inspired that an unnamed high school friend of mine pawned the lyrics off as his own and turned them into his English teacher and got an A for his "poem" if I'm not mistaken. Bad boy, bad boy.
The video that accompanies the song was done by a YouTuber who calls himself manwithoutabody. Pseudonym or real, you decide? The video is chock-full-o-clips from the cheesy movies that inspired the song. It's the first time that I've ever seen the giant poodle dog named Frunobulax. It was a touching moment, y'all.
About my favorite is Tremors ("We got TWO! Repeat TWO! Mutha-humpaz!"...).
Though LOTR and the Hobbit feature many good monsters, giant spiders
included, even one (Gollum) who is one of the best characters in literature
or cinema.
