Jeffrey, whom I deeply respect, is so fucking wrong on this his neck may
snap. Doing something > doing nothing.
Huh. A talking mime. That's cool. Wait a minute...
Ashley, you may as well be wearing a brown shirt if you go to the march
now. I'm.. in my own cynical way... proud of the pathetic failed pols for
getting the political jump on the coming revolt of the yuppies and
pre-co-opting it as they have. It's exactly what I would have done were I
as evil as they are.
Like you'd even show up. Civil disobedience my ass...you talk a good game,
that's for sure.
Oooo.... carrying a snare is a great idea and I, for one, want to see
Ashley's video rants! I hate it when you guys disagree. *sigh*
If you don't support them then don't lend your voice to their program.
I must congratulate the mayor...well played, very well played. He even
managed to get Mary into the action (queen to bishops three and check). To
bad it's not a game.
Not sure if you're talking to me, Jeffrey. I've tried to stay away from
local politics because I am not a New Orleanian. I am, however, the mother
of a New Orleans resident, so, while I said virtually nothing during the
election cycle, I do feel like I have a stake in the current crime
situation. I confess that I have developed a deep and abiding affection for
this particular group of people, a group in which you are included. I also
have a great deal of respect for the google bomb we've created. I do not
wish to see a perfectly unified front because that would not be real, but I
would be pleased if we'd stop calling each other names (Ashley and Adrastos
should each do five minutes in digital time-out for the whole "Mr. Gloomy
Pants" thing, IMHO), not that I expect anyone to worry whether or not I am
pleased (been a mom long enough to get over that one). Peace, darlin'.
Actually I think the name calling is fun.... it's kind of the accepted mode
of the medium.
Well said, A.
Well, alrighty then. Mr. Gloomy Pants it is!
Hey! Let's start calling Jeffrey The Gloomy Pantload!
This all comes down to that family thing I spoke of in a recent post. Even
those of us that are not in NOLA need to show our backing and let them know
we are there. That is why I will be there! Anything that happens in NOLA,
has an effect on those of us nearby. A prime example of how close things
are, is the serial killer that was caught here in Houma. He didn't just
kill people here, he killed people in Jefferson's parish.
Sometimes I'm a little slow. I'm really confused now. Jeffrey, how could
you think Ashley is supporting the fuckmooks?
Because now that the clown squad has held a press conference to announce a
wholly ineffective crime-fighting placebo, any subsequent anti-crime march
will only serve to encourage them.
For those of us who are still in exile and can't make the march, I suggest
that we 1) encourage as many friends as we can to get out there, and 2)
send money to the effort (see www.silenceisviolence.com). My friends at
Funrockin' (1128 Decatur St. in the Quarter) are also printing up Helen
Hill memorial t-shirts (at the request of some of Helen's friends) with $10
of each shirt going directly to a fund set up for the family. Just an idea
of something to wear on your way to the march.
You seem to be confusing keeping the pressure on with "encouraging" the
powers that be, Jeffrey. Like Ashley, I want their heads displayed on the
fence posts at Jackson Square; metaphorically at least.
At least some folks marching will be telling the "clown squad" to shove
their "wholly ineffective crime-fighting placebo" up their collective
asses. Check the objectives at NOLA
Against Crime
I have to think they're gonna get the idea that the marchers are not doing
so in support of their supposed new solution. I wish I could be there,
ya'll.
Ditto what A said and what Ed B said.
Viewing the march as any sort of validation for the clown squad is skewed
thinking.
