PICTURE TIME: NIGHT OUT ON NAPOLEON

posted Wednesday, 2 August 2006
It was a hot, sticky and sweaty Night Out Against Crime party but we had a good turn out and a damn good time. There was only one newsworthy event: Dollar Bill Jefferson showed up with his daughter, State Rep. Jalila in tow. I was a good boy and was polite to them. I was one of the hosts, after all. Dr. A was busying bustling and didn't get a shot of them. Dr. A asked Jalila if she had a picture of her new baby and she showed us one on her cell phone. It was an extreme close-up and Dollar Bill teased her about it. I didn't ask him if he kept any grandkid pix in that infamous freezer of his...

Anyway, since it was a three group party (Bouligny Riverside, Faubourg Marnengo and Faubourg Delachaise) I can't identify everyone. Some of these pictures were taken by Dr. A and others by Butch Thomas of Faubourg Marengo. Thanks, Butch. The first three pictures were taken by Dr. A

Nice shirt (no, really).

I just ate, and those sausages still look good.

I understand that freezers and refrigerators run less efficiently if they are empty. Dude had to put *something* in there, in the name of conservation. And the big block of cash was sitting around, and, well, you know. (Has he tried this angle yet?)

(Wait, you have a blog flack? Is this a part of the premium sub I have overlooked? Dammit, where are those Terms and Conditions ...)

I've done a bit of flacking for you. Btw, Dr A suggest that get something more cheerful up after the extended RT quote. These are not Wham times in Debrisville. It may be time to shoot out the lights or ride on the wall of death...

Damn. I stayed home with the crud. I had no idea there would be men in uniformn there, or I would have pulled it together!

And Lt. Albert is a handsome man too. Eddie Selby is an amazing character: one could make a movie about him.

Sorry to hear you didn't feel well. You'd have gotten the rock star treatment from Anne and Julie.

BTW, part of my reason for staying home was because of the loud thunder-rumblings I heard. David and Michael told me this morning that Elysian Fields was flooded. Global Warming! Global Warming!

Hey, Bob, Julie and Dione were in my PD2 workshop the other day. I dig them all, especially Dione. Tell her you're friends with the loud Indian girl from her district. Also, Bob and Julie will remember me as the one who gave them my card and to call/email me with any questions. I wish I'd known at the time that she knows you well.

Poop! I wanted to go last night, as I'm blowing off the GNOP, but with one cat recovering from being nuetered, and the other cat dropping her litter, I had my hands full. (I have seven cute kittens between the two mommies. They are robust stock from the San Gabriel Mountains... hint hint)

My Night Out Against Crime amounted to me standing on our porch in a nightgown, glass of mead in hand, brandishing a Kitana and a Wakasatchi. I don't think anyone will mess with us now. (Two crazy ladies with many swords, tons of knives, a gaggle of insane cats and wine. Scary!)

B & J, Hey you two, didn't know you were celebrities! Plus, everyone looks like they are having a great time. Multi-tasking civic duty and partying - - truly a talent! Responsible fun never looked so inviting. Worth crossing the lake for! V

Valerie, did we meet at Bob's birthday party?

That party was more fun than a barrel of monkeys! Got to see Darleen and Michael Depp's new baby, Jude Depp! And Jen and Cesar's baby Claudio - born on the day of Katrina. I loved seeing my neighbors out and about and embracing this hot, sticky, flawed city we all adore. Maitri and Schroeder, I am loving your blogs!

Hey Blond Guy and Loud Indian Girl, you seem to have been added to my unofficial flack's client list. She's nice and works for free. What more could ya want? Ashley and Dangerblond will be jealous...
