NAGIN POPS HIS CORK
Mayor C Ray Nagin aka the walking id lost it on WWL-TV's morning news today. LINK. The Mayor whined about the Picayune picture story and painted a dark picture of powerful people conspiring against him. Of course, the TP has essentially fellated him for 6 years and is now very reluctantly taking a *slightly* closer look at his record. How dare they? Nagin ranted about the video of the gun picture as showing how careful he was being when it's ambiguous at best. The video can be seen at WDSU.com and I've watched it several times and it's subject to multiple interpretations.
Nagin claims that "aryan hate groups" are targeting him without, of course, providing any support for his fulminations. His weirdest claim is that an upcoming story on WWL about his SCHEDULE is a violation of his privacy and his family's safety. This is, of course, nutty: he's a PUBLIC OFFICIAL and the people have a right to know what tomfoolery their Mayor is up to. If Nagin is truly "busting his butt," he should be thrilled to have people know how busy he is. This reeks of a desperate pre-emptive strike to make it look like THE MAN is out to get poor Clarence Ray.
Of late, I've written less about C Ray, it's just too easy to mock the man: his primary gift is making an ass of himself in public.Watching this clip I felt mixed emotions: pity for Nagin as a human being but also anger over his pathetic attempt to manipulate public opinion by whining on live teevee. It was so bad that anchor Sally-Ann Roberts expressed concerned about C Ray's mental health. Me, I think he needs to get a grip on himself and stop acting like a victim and prove that he's the leader he claims to be.

gun but in a different context?
I doubt if he's big enough to make a cold cocking hurt much. <groan>
If the dude doesn't know how to handle a gun, he can't shoot either.
Influence? He's upset that people have learned teh Google. Ray Ray, the
IG can't do anything with complaints from "vile and angry" people... unless
there's something you're feeling guilty about, ne c'est pas?
There is a line in Ray's tirade where he says he wants to get WWL's news
director outside in the parking lot to have a one on one. He IS losing it.
I caught the video of it on WWL a few minutes ago and Ray looks ROUGH.
Maybe it was a little early for him to be doing interviews but his skin and
mannerisms look like someone who isn't on the verge. The best part is at
the end where WWL anchor touches hi arm and emotes that everything will be
okay. Sweet.
