MIDURA CRIES, DOLLAR BILL LIES

posted Friday, 3 November 2006

There was a lot of political drama in Debrisville yesterday. The City Council unanimously passed a somewhat watered down version of the Inspector General bill proposed by Councilwoman Shelley Midura, Her victory, however, was overshadowed by the fact that Dyan (Mama D) French and some other local gadflies made Ms. Midura cry a river. They called her a racist and dubbed the bill as some sort of conspiracy by THE MAN. As unfair as this may have been, it was also as predictable as some Jefferson Parish politicians labeling all black folks criminals. Ms. Midura needs to toughen up. A pol should never cry in public when someone is mean to them. There's no crying in baseball, y'all. Midura should have excused herself and gone into the back of the council chambers and kicked the wall or something. Because of her failure to exercise self-control, there's likely to be a new game at future council meetings: Make Midura Cry.
Here's a LINK to the vidclip of WWL-TV's story on Midura's Inspector General weepfest.

WWL anchorman Dennis Woltering was able to get Dollar Bill Jefferson to offer a more expansive defense of himself. Here's the Picayune's account: "
Aside from saying there is an "honorable explanation" for how $90,000 in marked bills got in his freezer, Rep. William Jefferson, D-New Orleans, has studiously avoided commenting on the federal bribery case targeting him.

But in an interview with WWL-TV Thursday, Jefferson issued his strongest denial to date. Jefferson said, "I've never in my life bribed anyone. It's impossible. I don't go through my work day saying, 'I won't do this unless you do that.' "

Pressed by Anchor Dennis Woltering about whether he had ever received a bribe, Jefferson flat-out denied it.  "No. No sir. It's the God's honest truth."

I loved Dollar Bill saying that "it's impossible" that he's bribed anyone. He sounds like Don Quixote in the musical, Man Of La Mancha.  Hmm, I wonder who Dollar Bill's Sancho Panza is? St. Rep Jalila J? Assessor Betty J? DA Eddie J? George & Weezy J? Ex-Council Clown Gill-Pratfall? Mr. Freeze? Questions, questions, questions and nary an answer in sight.

Now that you've read about how Dennis cornered Dollar Bill, see it for yourself: LINK.

Finally,  Princess BOLD (d/b/a Karen Carter) has a cheesy new campaign ad that, for some reason, shows two potted palms on a white sound stage. Then, Ms. Carter adds to the plant life by strolling out between the two pots and using the primary buzzword of her effort: REFORM. Princess BOLD's handlers know that the Picayune and Gambit wet themselves when you call yourself a REFORMER. It doesn't matter if your father was a machine politician and you belong to the same group (BOLD) if you're a self proclaimed reformer they'll love you. If you'd like to see Princess BOLD frolic with flora and fauna here's a LINK. Btw, her media page is from hunger: everything loads simultaneously and confusingly. The ad I'm referring to is the second one and it's called BIO. I have no idea why it's called that because it's very short and Peter Graves is NOT the narrator...

The Dollar Bill defense sounds a lot like what I told Oyster the other day. Bill will say that since he had the money in his freezer, it's impossible that he bribed anyone. The truth is.. he was likely planning to steal the money from both parties in the bribery scheme.. but that's not what he's accused of.. actually come to think of it.. he hasn't been formally accused of anything yet.

As for Midura... anyone supporting that IG thing ought to be made to cry... but I've already made my feelings known on that matter.

It was a Civic Smackdown Yesterday. I was glued to my seat thru the Broadmoor presentation and request which took 3 hours. Lotta fun in the chambers yesterday, soon you will need reservations to get in.

Look Dollar Bill is just parsing carefully. He didn't bribe anyone because he kept the money he was supposed to use to bribe the Nigerian government official. Get it? Woltering is just not up to interviewing a truly devious scumbag like Dollar Bill.

That's my interpretation as well, RK. Dollar Bill never said that it was impossible for him to TAKE a bribe...
