John Fogerty, who is one of the greatest American songwriters in any genre, has a relatively new album out, Revival. It's yet another strong and-surprise, surprise- politically savvy effort. I do, however, wish he'd skip the plaid shirts but musical and fashion genius don't always go together. One of my favorite tunes on Revival is Long Dark Night, which features these lyrics:
"Brownie's in the outhouse
Katrina on the line
Government's a disaster
But George, he says it’s fine
Come on, lord you’d better run,
Be a long dark night before this thing is done."
Yeah, you right, John. Here's Fogerty and his band on Letterman:
Damn, isn't that the shirt we wore on the cover of Cosmo's Factory? But,
hey, would he still be da' Man without 'em? If I want fashion, I can watch
MTV with my daughter. Let him rock on and where any damn thing he wants.
