The sub-krewe of PAN's theme this year is a bit on the esoteric, highfalutin and Jude the semi-obscure side. We started off hewing somewhat closely to the Beatley Magical Misery Tour theme of KDV. The misuse of the Macca song Helter Skelter by the Manson "family" got us started. Then it morphed into a cult of fanatical New Orleanians who would rather drink the Kool-Aid than live elsewhere.
Our deity is the writer, journalist and 19th Century NOLA resident, Lafcadio Hearn. In short, we're the Cult of Lafcadio. I told you it was obscure but hey Jude, don't make it bad. One person who *will * get it is uber Carnival designer/maven/1993 KDV King Henri Schindler. After all, Henri's design for the 1989 Rex parade featured the works of our guru and sage, Lafcadio Hearn. So, we're paying tribute to the Presidential election and pandering to Monsieur Schindler and other fans of Lafcadio Hearn. I feel a bit like Mitt Haircut other than the fact that I'll be toting bourbon to keep myself from freezing...
So, crazy-n-cold New Orleanians, look for us. We'll be wearing seersucker bathrobes and champagne glasses on our heads that flash psychdelic colors, man. Wow, man, a visit to the psychedeli. Cosmic. Dr. A and I will be marching with the darling of the blogosphere Lisa Pal as well as Perfesser Morris and his lovely wife, Soviet Bloc. Here's a view of our poster:

that poster is beautiful. are they available somewhere?
Pass that Kool-Aid please. The poster *is* beautiful and not all *that*
esoteric. Stay warm, darlin'. We're watching the snow fall up here in
Hot-lanta. Wish I was there! May there be many pics.
Have you DRUNK the Kool-Aid?? Pshaw, y'all. BE the Kool-Aid. LOOOOVE the
Kool-Aid...
Alli, click on the photo and you can download a copy. Dat's de only way dey
be available. We're also throwing bumperstickers and post cards with the
image.
I still have an "Edwards Now More Than Ever" sticker laying around
somewhere.
Thanks for explaining it so well that I can simply link to you and reach my
average of two posts per month with little effort. (Yeah, yeah, one day
I'll actually get back into a more consistent blogging groove.)
They sell silver bangle bracelets with the tail end of that quote ("... it
is better to live here...") at Plum on Magazine Street. I got me one!
Ya want esoteric, I'll give you esoteric! To what joke, told by which
comedian, is the question: "You got change for a Hearn?" the punchline?
Hello. My name is Lafcadio and my middle name is Hearn, so I would
desperately love a poster of this lovely image! It sounds like you don't
have any posters, but can someone send me a high-res image, so I can have
it printed in color? I can send you a copy of my ID as proof of my bona
fides!
