ECHO CHAMBER TIME: YOU'RE ON NOTICE

posted Thursday, 24 August 2006

Via Ashley, Schroeder and Lisa. It took me awhile to notice that the damn thing was interactive. UPDATE: The echo chamber is...uh...echoing with more lists. Food porn devotee Ray has two lists. The Loud Indian Girl has one too.

I hate Vincent more. What a dorky prima donna.

Laura and Michael are my favorites. I really want Michael to win. Consistently elegant designs and such a nice guy.

Yours is the best one I've seen, A. In no small part due to the inclusion of Project Runway's Jeffrey-- inspired!

Dr A and are on Team Laura. She's our homegirl: she grew up in Metry. I also have a weakness for redheads...

Why is Steven Bingler listed on there?

Why Bingler? I'm not an admirer of his.

He is one of the folks who stepped forward to try and help put together some semblance of a Unified plan for the city. If he had not, with the aid of others, we would forced to use Lamberts plan and process. Or maybe that is why you don't like him.

I don't get it. Can you explain why?

I have no brief for the Lambert process. As to Mr. Bingler, I don't like his style. I'm also skeptical of the way he's run the process.

It is easy to push a process when you are being paid by the process... be it Bingler or Humid.

What I don't understand is this, Why does Humid not understand? Some of us who were made to endure the meeting in City Park felt shat upon. Perhaps the point of the Unified Process is not to actually serve the folks who show up. Hard to maintain objectivity when you are on the payroll. For those of us who have to show up and yell to be heard Mr. Bingler does not appear to be the saviour Humid paints him to be.

I have never painted anyone to be a savior. I just know that this is the only chance we have at moving forward so I will do all I can to help move it forward.

If all we do is shit upon the process and pick it apart because of mistakes how does that help the city? That I don't understand. Can you folks explain that to me?

What is the alternative?

Alternative: Nagin could fully staff the CPC and the whole process could be run through them. The money is in the City's budget but Nagin has repeatedly marginalized CPC.

I agree with Too Deep. When we hand over government to Private Foundations we lose what little Democracy we still have left. Will "government" be corrupt?

yes, where there is money there is corruption.

Will Private Foundations be corrupt? See answer above

It is important to ponder long and hard about what it means to give away our rights.

We have no ability to monitor the activities of GNOF and Rockefeller. We have no ability to question or review how decisions are made.

That seems like enough reason to "shit upon the process" as you say. Yes there is a lot of money coming our way, supposedly. That money is coming at the expense of those of us who have lost so much, why wouldn't we want to know how decisions are made?

You also said "this is the only chance we have to move forward" Why is that? Are we being held to the whims of others?

Fool, I agree with you! What also concerns me is that we are being forced by the state and the feds how to make decisions and run processes that are local in nature. We are being told by the feds that we MUST adopt the Advisory Base Flood Elevation, which other parishes have rejected, and we are being threatened... told that if we don't adopt the ABFE, homeonwers won't receive their money.

Back to planning, LRA is truly in control of this process. Isn't it curious that Bingler was first hired as a consultant to LRA before he was hired by the Community Support Foundation. It was LRA that solicited money to pay for the process and LRA that identified the feduciary agent (GNOF). C Ray's disdain for the planning process is feeding the LRA.

But the whole thing is going to backfire when C Ray's friends have to wait 6 months or more for CPC to review their zoning change applications. But then again, why does C Ray care... he's touring the country looking for his next gig.
