HOUSING ON THE BRAIN

Housing is the subject of the day in New Orleans. I'm not a big fan of traditional public housing projects as they have developed over the decades. They were originally meant to be a way station or a rung on an upward ladder but the bricks have turned into permanent residences for many people. But I'm also not certain that the current projects should be demolished instead of being renovated. There's an excellent discussion underway at We Could Be Famous and I'm inclined to agree with comments made by Pistolette and Celcus but it's a dashed tricky subject. I'm glad I'm a mere pundit and not a decision maker; given the lack of affordable housing in New Orleans trying to steer the right course on the projects is tough, tough, tough. And unlike Bruce Springsteen, I'm *not* tougher than the rest:

Now that I've equivocated on an important issue of the day here's the real reason I'm posting right now: E has used Wizard Of Oz imagery in his post about all the dominoes that seem to be falling at once. It's apt and well done and I considered NOT using Oz-ian imagery in a forthcoming post about the Pink Village BUT it's too good to waste. So, consider this foreshadowing. Damn, I'm goin' literary on your ass or is that asses? Speaking of which, there are lots of asses in post-K Debrisville; especially his irrelevancy, Dallas Ray Nagin. I'm not going to comment directly on his latest preposterous utterances when Jeffrey has already done so very well. Get thee to the Yellow Blog.
