Coleman, who lives in a nearby FEMA trailer park for first responders, was at home and off duty when she was drawn to the sound of gunshots. She treated the man's wounds and prepared him to be taken to the hospital."
Thanks Ms. Coleman. Btw, I was proud of my neighbors when the trailer site was proposed: they didn't flip out and go NIMBY. Instead we discussed it like grownups and the consensus was to accept the trailer site because of the crisis. End of parochial self-congratulatory passage.
Listening to "Running Free" (1980) from the Buzzcocks, and taking the
lyrics to task, as I read the link re: Danziger Bridge shootings, and I've
got nothin'. Every day, I'm coming closer to the conclusion that decency
and respect are now being junked. The fact that your neighbourhood was able
to converse about the FEMA trailers in an adult fashion, though, makes me
think that all is not lost. Thanks.
Holy shit. That's way too close to home for my comfort. Yikes. I have a
great fondness for undergraduates who frequent bars in your neighborhood.
I can't tell if you're merely stating a fact or blaming the victim when you
mention the shootings/armed robberies around Grits. The muggers who think
of the area around colege bars as prime hunting grounds are back and it's a
problem. Unless the flyers that I see around Tulane and Loyola are all
b.s., it's a big problem. Still I can understand that it was a headache
for the neighborhood when Grits went from being a quiet pool hall to a
popular bar, but I thought the F&M was the main headache there.
Golly, ya'll. Is this getting worse or is it my imagination? I just read in
the T-P that Dinerral Shavers was shot dead while driving his car (with
wife and kids in tow). I'm thinking I need to keep my baby home (not that
the A-T-L is a hotbed of safety - and not that I could even if I wanted
to), but, still.
David, my comment was about the bar itself, which is a poorly run and nasty
little dump that causes problems all the time. It's been one of the things
I hear about the most.
