The wannabe fuhrer of the Gret Stet, David Duke, has crawled out from under his rock to comment on the 2008 campaign to Michael Crowley of the New Republic. Not surprisingly, he doesn't like any of the major candidates but he's rather mild on the subject of Obama: "Yet, far from railing at Obama's rise, Duke seems almost nonchalant about it. Self-described white nationalists like himself, he explained cordially, "don't see much difference in Barack Obama than Hillary Clinton--or, for that matter, John McCain." Sure, Duke considers Obama "a racist individual," citing his Afrocentric Chicago church. But soon the founder of the National Association for the Advancement of White People was critiquing Obama as overhyped and insubstantial in terms you might hear from, say, Clinton strategist Mark Penn. "They say he's for change. What change? He's become almost a cult figure. I don't see any shining light around Obama's head. I don't see any halos," Duke said."
This doesn't surprise me because Duke's hatred of black folks has always been secondary to his raging anti-semitism. It's why he has spent so much time in recent years in Eastern Europe where pogrom nostalgia is a big deal. Of course, if there proves to be any fundraising gold in blasting Obama, Duke will be there, dude. The man loves money like a pig loves slop.
Hopefully, this will be the last time in 2008 that we'll hear from der failed fuhrer. It's time for him to crawl back under his stone:
Yes David Duke is a creep. But where do you see this quote as racist?
((("They say he's for change. What change? He's become almost a cult
figure. I don't see any shining light around Obama's head. I don't see any
halos," Duke said."))))....Please stop using race as a tool. You perceive
it as racisim. There is nothing in that quote thats is racist.
