BLOGERRAZZI IN THE PICAYUNE

posted Saturday, 31 March 2007

The NOLA bloggers are everywhere. Educator, bon vivant, bible dude and retired punk idol, Michael Homan has an erudite piece about pub ed on the op-ed page. It's very thoughtful and showcases Mike's serious side but rumor has it that he wrote it whilst wearing his blue green gator shoes and beer-holder hat gizmo. Party on, Professor.

Editor B and his charming wife, XY, are again featured by Stephanie Bruno as a part of her  "long road home" series. Our boy Bart brought up the subject of Geek Dinner III and dropped the dime on some of his colleagues: "Everson says the "geek dinners" -- potluck suppers that bring together members of the local neighborhood action and blogging communities -- happen frequently, if irregularly. "This will be the third in a matter of months. Bloggers such as Dangerblonde, Loki and Adastros will be there, and so will social activists involved with groups like Think NOLA and Defend New Orleans."

Everson added that talk at the dinners may sound like a secret language to anyone who isn't a computer geek or social activist. "On the other hand," he said, "I guess everyone is a bit of a geek these days. And after Katrina, everyone in New Orleans is an activist."

Notice how he mentioned the Unholy Trinity of the NOLA bloggerazzi. Of course, two of our nom de blogs were misspelled but pub is pub. I'm concerned that Dangerblond and Loki's heads will expand to dangerous proportions in the wake of this name dropping in the MSM. As a modest and reserved person that's unlikely to happen to me. Besides, I already have an enormous cartoonlike head so I think I'm safe...

Speaking of Loki, I introduced him to an old friend of mine the other day. He was a bit knackered from working long hours during the WWOZ tin cup rattling fest. She thought he was hilarious and lively but was surprised to hear that she hadn't experienced the full Loki effect. Mind you, he seemed more caffeinated than the average Joe but he only spoke at the rate of 44 words per second instead of 90. I explained to her that she had met Low-key as opposed to Loki....

Way cool! You guys deserve big heads. I'm sittling on Middle Son's porch trying to figure out where to go to lunch. Emailed Loki my cell number (TM & DB have it too). I'm so excited to be here!

Thanks, I couldn't find the article online.

Of course, you know that reporters have a tendency to manufacture quotes, so I deny everything.

Don't worry, it's just a phase. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, don't you know?
